Highlights: Bison Red shot an improved 45 per cent from the field and outrebounded EBA 51-22 in the first game of pool play. Millard North’s Carter Larson led Bison Red with 15 points and three other players added double-figure scoring. Jake Ruzicka of Wahoo scored 13, Jaxon Harre of Millard South had 12, and Lincoln Northeast’s Trace Tupper added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Larson pulled down nine rebounds. Bison Red trailed briefly in the first half but a 14-2 run in the final 8:13 of the half provided a lead it never gave up. An 18-5 run in the second half broke the game open and turned a four-point lead into a 59-42 cushion with 6:04 remaining.

*Highlights: Bison Red (17-9) finished pool play with a 3-0 record and advanced to Saturday’s single-elimination bracket play as one of the top seeds in the Gold Division of the tournament. Improved shooting (12-for-19) in the second half helped erase a two-point halftime deficit as Bison Red finished the game hitting 50 per cent from the field. Cali Elite held a 35-34 lead with 6:50 left but Bison Red outscored the California team 18-6 the rest of the way to secure the win. Jaxon Harre led Bison Red with 11 points while Dalton Taylor added 10 and Carter Larson scored 9 in a balanced scoring attack. Jake Ruzicka pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds, Trace Tupper had 8. Taylor and Larson each had 6 rebounds. Bison Red’s defense limited Cali Elite to 27 per cent from the field and gave up just one field goal in the first eight minutes of the second half.

*Highlights: Bison Red advanced to the quarterfinal round and boosted its tournament record to 5-0. Trace Tupper led the squad with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Lane McCallum added 10 points while Tommy Leininger scored 8. Bison Red pulled away from a close game early with a 14-7 run in the closing eight minutes of the first half. Arizona Sting battled back to tie the game but Bison Red never gave up the lead. The final deadlock, at 40 with 2:43 left in the game, was met with a 9-0 Bison Red run to seal the win. Bison Red got a 3-pointer from Leininger, two free throws by Tupper, two free throws by McCallum and a field goal by Jake Ruzicka during the game-deciding run.

Bison Red shot 50 per cent from the field and 57 per cent from 3-point range. A solid defensive effort made up for 19 turnovers.

*Highlights: Bison Red’s run at the Best of Summer ended one win short of the semifinal round. Bison Red recovered from an EBC 12-0 run in the first half and took a 37-36 lead midway through the second half on a McCallum 3-pointer from the top of the key. The game was close the rest of the way and a three-point play by EBC with 40 seconds left in the game put it up 59-56. Bison Red was unable to score the rest of the way and fouls down the stretch sent EBC to the free throw line where they made three straight in the closing seconds. Improved shooting continued against EBC as Bison Red made 23 of 46 field goals. Jaxon Harre led the way with 15 points while Lane McCallum added 11. McCallum also pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
