*Highlights: Bison Red (19-11) squandered a 13-point lead midway through the second half as Cooper Academy (Los Angeles) closed the game with a 23-8 run. Bison Red also led 16-6 in the game’s early stages but 10 turnovers in the first half prevented any additional cushion. Bison Red led 26-23 at halftime. Bison Red took its largest lead (44-31) on a field goal by Rhett Harms with about 11 minutes left in the game but Bison Red made just two field goals the rest of the game and finished the game shooting 36 per cent from the field.

*Lane McCallum scored 18 of his game-high 22 points in the first half as Bison Red built a 41-17 lead. McCallum was 7-for-13 from the field, including three 3-pointers. Trace Tupper added 13 points and 13 rebounds. Bison Red, following a momentum-building 19-0 run in the first half, took a 24-point lead before Nevada responded by scoring the final eight points of the half and continued to cut into Bison Red’s lead in the second half. Nevada pulled to within six points late in the game but Carter Larson and Tupper each had a field goal in the closing minute to help seal the win. The 20 wins is the third time in the last 10 years that a Bison Red team has reached that number. The last team to reach 20 wins was the 2013 squad that finished 23-4. The program record of 33 wins was set by the 1999 and 2005 squads.

*Highlights: Bison Red closed pool play with a convincing win. An early 10-2 Bison Red lead ballooned to 23-6 advantage midway through the first half. A pair of threes by Rhett Harms and seven points from Carter Larson sparked the run. Bison Red held a double-digit lead for the rest of the game after Jake Ruzicka made two free throws with 9:53 left in the first half. Trace Tupper scored 16 points and had six assists, both team highs. Larson added 15 points while Dalton Taylor and Harms each pulled down seven rebounds as Bison Red held a 44-21 edge on the boards. Bison Red’s largest lead of the game came following a Ruzicka 3-pointer with 8:02 left that provided a 59-33 margin. Bison Red will begin single-elimination tournament play Saturday morning.

*HIGHLIGHTS: Millard North’s Carter Larson scored 23 points but Bison Red fell short in its first game of bracket play at the Fab 48. Indiana Faith jumped to a 12-4 lead and while Bison Red battled back and trailed by only one, 38-37, with 9:03 left in the game, it was never able to take the lead. Forced to foul in the final three minutes of the game, Bison Red saw Indiana Faith make 12 straight free throws in the final 2:57. Bison Red pulled to within five points with 1:10 left in the game, but couldn’t get any closer as Indiana Faith continued its torrid free throw shooting, making eight straight in the final 1:02. Larson was 7-for-12 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free throw line. Lane McCallum and Jaxon Harre grabbed seven and six rebounds, respectively. Indiana Faith made 17 of 18 free throws in the game for 94 per cent. Bison Red’s 21 wins were the most since the 2013 team finished 23-4. It was the ninth time since Bison Red started playing multiple tournaments in 1998 that a team has reached the 20-win plateau.
