Drake Beranek
Ravenna
Ravenna qualified for the State Tournament by defeating Grand Island Central Catholic, 53 - 46. Drake is one of the leading scorers in the tournament, averaging 24.4 points per game and also pulling down 9.5 rebounds per game. They bring a 23 - 1 record to the tournament and will have the #2 seed in Class C-2, playing Wakefield at 1:30 p.m. at Northeast High School.

Ravenna blew out Wakefield 74 - 39 in the first round and Beranek scored 16 points.

Ravenna defeated Ponca, 88 - 56 as Beranek scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Beranek had 23 points and 12 rebounds in the Championship game, but Ravenna lost to David City Aquinas 60 - 55.


Andrew Bridger
Lincoln Northeast
Lincoln Northeast suffered its only loss of the season in the District semi-final to Omaha Benson (eventual loser to Millard North in the final) but qualified for State via the wild card. The Rockets will be the #2 seed, playing Kearney at 7:00 p.m. at the Devaney Sports Center. Bridger averaged 20 points and 3.1 rebounds for the season.

Bridger put up 25 points in the first round but it wasn't enough as Northeast lost to Kearney 69 - 67.


Matt Hill
Lincoln Southeast
Lincoln Southeast won their District Championship 68 - 51 over Omaha North and gets the #4 seed at State with a record of 18 - 4. Hill led Southeast in scoring and rebounding for the season with 19.9 points per game and 12.4 rebounds per game.The Knights will face Omaha Bryan (21 - 5) at 5:00 p.m. at the Devaney Sports Center.

Hill's 21 points and 21 rebounds led Southeast to a 68 - 53 first round win over Omaha Bryan.

In spite of a 24 point, 12 rebound perfromance by Hill, the Knights lost to Bellevue West in the semifingal 64 - 57.


Matt Starks
Omaha Bryan
Omaha Bryan defeated Bellevue West 68 -56 to qualify for state. They will be the #5 seed in Class A and play Lincoln Southast at 5:00 p.m. at the Devaney Sports Center. Starks finished the regular season with 7.3 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Omaha Bryan lost to Southeaast 68 - 53 in the first round.


Waid Vontz
Cambridge
Cambridge defeated Wauneta-Palisade 72 - 65 in overtime to qualify for State. They will be the #4 seed in Class D-1 and play Wauneta-Palisade in a rematch at 11:30 a.m. at Lincoln East. Vontz is one of the top scorers in the tournament and leads the Trojans with 26.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

Vontz scored 21 points to lead Cambridge to a 75 - 74 overtime win over Wauneta-Palisade in the first round.

Cambridge was eliminated from the tournament in the semifinals by Humphrey St. Francis, 81 - 48. Vontz scored 28 points in his final game.
